Продолжаем наш цикл материалов об актерах запорожского театра им. Магара, оставивших значительный след в его истории. Сегодня речь пойдет об Александре Гапоне, отдавшем запорожскому театру более 40 лет. В его амплуа было немало разных ролей, и сегодня мы расскажем об этом незаурядном артисте.
Как вспоминал в одном из своих интервью сам Александр Иванович, петь он любил с детства. Хотя оно и было довольно сложным, послевоенным. В селе Орлянское, где и родился будущий актер, работы хватало для всех. Мальчишка трудился в колхозе уже с 8 лет.
Именно из совхоза он впервые и попал в запорожский театр. Будучи уже известным в своей деревне «артистом», он хотел посмотреть на настоящее искусство. Александр был совершенно очарован происходившим в театре, и захотел сам там работать. Разумеется, он еще был слишком мал для этого, но все равно цель была поставлена. Во время пребывания в Запорожье Гапон пообщался с работником театра. Тот сказал, что насчет трудоустройства надо пообщаться с руководителем театра Владимиром Магаром.

Неизвестно, сказал ли работник это в шутку или всерьез, но Гапон запомнил рекомендацию. Через некоторое время Гапон снова приехал в Запорожье, и сразу направился в театр. Ему повезло, Магар был на месте и разрешил пройти к себе. Александр Гапон сказал, что умеет и петь, и танцевать и хочет работать в театре. Магар, к удивлению, воспринял визитера адекватно. Он не отказал прямо, но посоветовал сначала немного подучиться. В качестве альма-матер режиссер посоветовал Днепропетровское театральное училище. Так будущий актер и сделал.
Еще в училище Гапон говорил, что хочет добиться славы и почета, стать народным артистом. Его мечтой было, чтобы фамилию писали на афишах большими буквами. Так оно в будущем и получилось, но первоначально пришлось поработать некоторое время в черкасском театре.
Впрочем, очень скоро Гапон все же попал в запорожский театр, в который он «целился» изначально. Первоначальными его ролями были пареньки в различных спектаклях на национальную тему, но постепенно он «рос» как в плане значимости ролей, так и в плане мастерства.
Появилась у Александра Ивановича и своя актерская «фишка». Перед выходом на сцену он всегда избегал встреч с женщинами. Не подумайте ничего странного, женоненавистником актер отнюдь не был. Это был просто своеобразный ритуал, по убеждению актера он должен был помогать отыграть спектакль как следует.

Чаще всего Гапон исполнял комедийные роли, особенно в спектаклях с национальным колоритом. Тут его природный артистизм, а также собственный опыт жизни в селе подходили как нельзя лучше. Также отлично удавались ему и роли на казацкую тематику.
Благодаря хорошим вокальным данным Александр Гапон часто участвовал в постановках, где предполагалось исполнение вокальных партий. Например, одна из его ролей – певец Петр Лещенко (не путайте с однофамильцем Львом) – долгие годы была одной из лучших в театре. Еще одной ролью, которую нельзя не упомянуть, была роль Тевье-молочника в спектакле по сценарию Григория Горина.
Эта роль по сути трагическая, но к ней Александр Иванович шел долгие годы. Наконец получив ее, Гапон считал это своей большой творческой удачей. Впрочем, с этим солидарны были и коллеги, и зрители – роль Тевье действительно стала его настоящим актерским достижением.
Играл он и в социальных драмах, например в пьесе «Дети Арбата». Эта постановка, которую выполнил Александр Король, появилась во второй половине 1980-х годов. Тогда театр, пытаясь идти в ногу со временем и политическими реалиями, давал возможность зрителям познакомиться с постановками на актуальные темы.
В 1992 году исполнилась давняя мечта Александра Гапона. Он был удостоен высокого звания заслуженного артиста Украины. При этом звание заслуженного артиста УССР у него было еще с 1979 года.
За высокие творческие достижения А.И.Гапон награжден орденом Запорожского областного совета «За заслуги перед Запорожским краем» II и I степеней, Почетными грамотами Запорожской областной государственной администрации и Департамента культуры, туризма, национальностей и религий. В 2010 году артиста наградили Почетной грамотой Кабинета Министров Украины. А в 2011 году получил государственный орден «За заслуги» III степени (Указ Президента Украины 339/2011, 2011 г.).

В 2012 году Александр Иванович удостоен звания «Почетный гражданин Запорожья». Согласно Указу Президента Украины «О назначении государственных стипендий выдающимся деятелям культуры и искусства» Гапон А.И. в 2017 году удостоен двухлетней президентской стипендии.
Ушел из жизни выдающийся артист 7 апреля 2021 года. Он работал в театре до самого конца жизни. Как вспоминали коллеги Александра Ивановича, он учил всех не только мастерству актера, но и радоваться жизни, искренне любить ее и относиться ко всему с юмором.
