Історія заснування цього міста тісно пов’язана із німецькою колонізацією краю. Колоністи зробили серйозний внесок у розвиток Оріхова, дали початок багатьом промисловим підприємствам, які працювали у майбутньому. Сьогодні MyZp.info розкаже про першого мера Оріхова, який теж був з числа колоністів.
Почалась ця історія так. 22 липня 1763 року російська імператриця Катерина II видала Маніфест, який в оригіналі звучав так «О дозволении всем иностранцам, в Россию въезжающим, поселяться в которых губерниях они пожелают и о дарованных им правах».
Даний Маніфест виявився справжнім каталізатором для міграції іноземців, включаючи німців, до території Російської імперії. Ця історична ініціатива сприяла особливо масовій міграції німецькомовних громад, серед яких виділялись представники релігійної громади менонітів. Ім’я цієї громади виникло від імені її засновника — Менно Сімонса, голландського священика.
Заздалегідь широко розповсюджена думка, що меноніти становлять окремий народ, але насправді це був релігійний рух, який включав у себе не лише німців, але й поляків, шведів, голландців та інших. Проте на території нашого регіону основну кількість менонітів представляли саме німецькі переселенці.
Перші меноніти з’явились в Оріхові в 30-х роках XIX століття, коли кілька родин із колонії Шенвізе переїхали на ці землі. Деякі з них оселилися в місті, інші заснували окремі поселення, які отримали назву колонії. Оскільки сільське господарство було основним заняттям менонітів, вони впровадили розширені практики землеробства та розвинули галузі, пов’язані з виробництвом сільгосппродукції та сільгоспінвентарю.
Робилося це завдяки відповідним нормам законодавства та пільгам, що діяли на той час для переселенців. Але сьогодні ми не будемо зосереджувати на цьому свою увагу. Краще поговоримо про значний внесок, який меноніти зробили в розвиток Оріхова та регіону в цілому.
Найбільш, напевне, відомою родиною в Оріхові у XIX — початку XX століття були Янцени. У кінці 70-х років XIX століття Йохан Генріхович Янцен створив перший паровий млин, де використовувалася передова технологія швейцарського виробництва. Млин виготовляв різні сорти борошна, що отримало визнання як серед місцевих мешканців, так і за кордоном. Пізніше, в радянські часи, інший його млин був перетворений на консервний завод. Обидва ці млини розташовувалися на вулиці Німецькій, яку сьогодні називають вулицею Йохана Янцена. Ця вулиця неспроста носила подібну назву. Вона була відома своєю концентрацією житлових будинків для німців-менонітів та їх численними промисловими підприємствами, що і дало їй ім’я.
На вулиці Йохана Янцена також була збудована школа для менонітських дітей, яка подвійно функціонувала як бенкетна зала, і олійниця. Олійниця працювала навіть під радянським режимом, і старші мешканці пам’ятають неймовірний аромат, який панував в місті під час виробництва олії. Саме на цьому місці, де колись стояла олійниця, зараз розташований будинок Ощадбанку.
Янцени також сприяли громадським потребам та благодійним справам. Вони спонсорували будівництво кількох житлових будинків, які й досі вважаються однією з прикрас Оріхова. Один з цих будинків зараз є будівлею міської ради. Важливо відзначити, що Йохан Генріхович Янцен був обраний першим міським головою Оріхова та протримався на цій посаді протягом 25 років, з 1874 по 1899 роки.
Ще однією відомою німецькою фамілією в нашому місті є Крігер, який у 1895 році спорудив завод для виробництва землеробських машин. Окрім основної галузі, а саме виробництва сільськогосподарської техніки, меноніти також займалися виробництвом будівельних матеріалів.
Проте в радянські часи німці відчули на собі значні переслідування: деяких депортували, деяких репресували, а інші змушені були емігрувати до Канади. Меноніти змушені були покинути радянську територію через те, що їх часто ідентифікували як окупантів або як тих, хто співпрацював з німцями під час окупації містечка у Другу світову війну.
Сьогодні на Оріхівщині сліди людей, які понад 150 років тому внесли вагому спадщину у формі європейської цивілізації, можна побачити в архітектурі будинків, на меморіальних дошках та в назвах вулиць.
Щоправда, сьогоднішня повномасштабна російська агресія не пройшла осторонь і цієї чудової спадщини предків. Місто постійно зазнає нових ударів снаряд, ракет та авіабомб. Зокрема, постраждав і будинок Янцена, де сьогодні знаходиться міська рада Оріхова.
