Донедавна ця покинута будівля нагадувала всім про початок 1990-х років. Тоді в місті з’явилось багато нових бізнесів, про які раніше ніхто і не чув. А «герой» нашої сьогоднішньої розмови – автосалон, який став одним з перших в Запоріжжі. Нажаль, з нами його більше нема, але ви могли його бачити.
На початку 1990-х років в Україні спостерігався різкий розвиток автомобільної індустрії, що призвело до появи перших приватних автосалонів. Після розпаду від Радянського Союзу, Україна відчула потребу у нових формах торгівлі, а автомобілі стали символом статусу та свободи. Стара система продажу автомобілів була неефективною і швидко руйнувалася.
У цей період з’явилися невеликі автосалони, які пропонували обмежений асортимент автомобілів, переважно імпортного виробництва. Ці автосалони вражали своєю новизною та новим підходом до продажу автомобілів. Вони створювали спеціальну атмосферу, де покупці могли переглядати, порівнювати та обирати своє майбутнє авто.
Населення почало проявляти значний інтерес до автотранспорту, тому що це була нова можливість для багатьох отримати не лише засіб пересування, а й ще один показник свого соціального статусу. Автосалони стали місцями, де можна було не лише придбати автомобіль, але й отримати консультацію від фахівців, поради щодо обслуговування та технічного обслуговування. Вони стали справжніми центрами автомобільної культури. Тут люди дізнавалися про нові моделі, технології та тренди в автомобільній промисловості.
Ці перші кроки автомобільних салонів у 1990-х стали фундаментом для подальшого розвитку автомобільного бізнесу в Україні, відкривши дорогу до більш широкого вибору автомобілів та послуг для клієнтів. Один з таких автосалонів відкрився і в Запоріжжі.
Чому була обрана саме така назва для автосалону – загадка. Адже за давньогрецькою міфологією, Плутон — один з богів царства смерті. Він вселяв усім людям непереборний жах, тому що він з’являвся на поверхні землі тільки для того, щоб вибрати собі чергову жертву і потягнути її у свою похмуру оселю. Плутон перевіряв, чи немає на землі тріщини. Через них в його темне царство міг би проникнути сонячний промінь і розігнати морок, що панував там. У нього була колісниця, яку везли чотири чорні жеребці.
З іншого боку, Плутон — це одна з планет Сонячної системи. Вона є найкрупнішою з усіх відомих нам карликових планет. Можливо, саме за цією логікою і обрали назву, адже автосалон був не надто великим.
Тим не менш, точно відомо те, що реалізовував цей автосалон. Основним його профілем були корейські автомобілі тоді ще маловідомої марки Daewoo. Ні про які «Ланоси» тоді ще мова не йшла, в ходу була інша модель – Espero.
На початку 1990-х Daewoo Motors стало тісно на внутрішньому корейському ринку, і корпорація підготувала масовану атаку на Європу. У середньому класі ударною силою була модель Espero.
До наступу корейці підготувалися добре – оригінальний кузов замовили стилістам Bertone, а механічну частину запозичили у General Motors. В основу нової моделі лягла трохи розтягнута «джіемівська» платформа J. На ній базувалися популярні в 80-і роки Opel Ascona, Vauxhall Cavalier, Isuzu Aska, Holden Camira, Chevrolet Monza, Pontiac Sunfire, Buick Skyhawk, Oldsmobile Firenza. На заході Європи новинка від Daewoo не дуже сподобалася. А на сході виявилася дуже доречною – пострадянські простори лише почали заповнюватися першими новими іномарками.
Дякуючи італійцям – екстер’єр машини вийшов не по-корейськи яскравим. Крім того, стрімкий кузов виявився на диво просторим і зручним. Ще б пак, він був помітно більший за американсько-німецький прототип. «Живі» мотори забезпечували хорошу на ті часи динаміку. З 2,0-літровим двигуном Espero розганялася до «сотні» за 10,8 сек і тривалий час могла рухатися зі швидкістю 160 – 170 км/год («максималка» при цьому становить 185 км/год). Підвіска компенсувала всі нерівності вітчизняних доріг, а набір опцій вражав недосвідченого споживача, який не їздив ні на чому комфортніше «Волги». У базову комплектацію входив гідропідсилювач керма, електрорегулювання дзеркал та кондиціонер.
Він активно функціонував протягом 1990-х років. Корейські автомобілі користувались певним попитом, бо були відносно непоганим варіантом за свою ціну. Але модель швидко застаріла, а її зміна («Нубіра») виявилась далеко не такою надійною. Тому згодом по мірі розвитку інших, більш великих фірм, почав рух до краху. Вже на середину «нульових» тут нічого не було. Втім, будівля продовжувала стояти на своєму місці аж до середини «десятих» років.
Зараз від автосалону нічого не залишилось. Тепер тут знаходиться будівля супермаркету «АТБ». Від автосалону залишився хіба заїзд з бокувулиці, хоча і він суттєво розширився з часів роботи автосалону.
